ORGANIC FRUIT AND VEGETABLES

There is nothing quite like the taste of fresh organic vegetables. They may not look as perfect as a non-organic fruit or vegetable but that is simply because of the way they are naturally grown. At organic foods and café, we go by the saying, it’s what’s inside that counts.

Our fresh organic fruit and vegetables are flown in from nearby countries to ensure that our carbon footprint is low. We know each and every one of our farmers personally and have established excellent relationships with them over the years. All our fruits and vegetables are kept cold to ensure maximum freshness. GROWING YOUR OWN ORGANIC FRUIT AND VEGETABLES

If you are interested in growing your own fresh organic fruit and vegetables in your garden or on your balcony you can now pick up the organic seeds and soil from our supermarket. For further information please speak to one of our store managers, who will be more than happy to help you.

NON-ORGANIC FRUIT AND VEGETABLES         

Vegetable sprays: If the fruit or vegetable that you want is not available we suggest that you either buy a fruit and vegetable spray for non-organic fruits and vegetables. Alternatively can make it yourself. To make it yourself you will need 1 cup of water, 1 cup of distilled white vinegar, 1 tbsp baking soda an 20 drops of grapefruit seed extract. Combine all the ingredients in a large container and then transfer to a spray bottle with a pump. Spray onto non-organic fruit and vegetables and then rise thoroughly after 5 to 10 minutes.

The worst offenders: The other option we suggest is to make sure you avoid what we call the worst offenders, by we mean that there are some fruits and vegetables that are very heavily sprayed with chemicals. By avoiding these fruits and vegetables you can reduce your pesticide exposure by 80%. The worst offenders are non organic (highest pesticide first); peaches, apples, bell peppers, celery, nectarines, strawberries, cherries, kale, lettuce, grapes.
